About the Role

Our client, a prestigious architectural practice located near Mossel Bay, Western Cape , is actively seeking a highly experienced Senior Architect with a strong specialization in Sustainable Design. This role is critical in shaping the future of environmentally conscious architecture within the firm and will involve leading the integration of green building principles across a diverse range of projects. You will be instrumental in developing innovative, sustainable design strategies, conducting environmental impact assessments, and advocating for the use of eco-friendly materials and technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of green building certifications (e.g., Green Star, LEED) and have a proven ability to deliver high-performance, sustainable built environments. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead significant projects and influence sustainable development in the Western Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of sustainable architectural projects from concept to completion.
• Integrate principles of passive design, energy efficiency, water conservation, and material sustainability into architectural solutions.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Architecture, with a clear focus on Sustainable Design.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-graduate experience in architectural practice, with a significant portfolio of sustainable projects.
• In-depth knowledge of sustainable design principles, building science, and environmental performance analysis tools.
• Proven experience with green building rating systems such as Green Star SA, LEED, or similar.
• Proficiency in architectural design software (Revit, AutoCAD) and sustainability simulation tools (e.g., EnergyPlus, IES VE).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience mentoring design teams.
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Professional registration with SACAP is essential.
