Placements24 is seeking a Senior 3D Character Animator for its Polokwane studio. You will bring characters to life with expressive performances, working closely with directors and fellow animators to shape personality and movement across projects.

Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of professional experience, a strong showreel, and proficiency in Maya or Blender, with solid understanding of animation principles and collaboration skills. Hybrid work setup available in Polokwane.

Responsabilités

• Animate 3D characters for features/series/games with believable performances.

• Create keyframes, cleanup motion capture, and in-betweens as needed.

This role is critical in shaping the personality, emotion, and movement of characters across various animated projects. You will collaborate closely with directors, art leads, and fellow animators to deliver high-quality, believable character performances. Key Responsibilities

• Animate 3D characters for feature films, television series, or video games, ensuring believable and compelling performances.
• Interpret and implement director's notes and feedback to refine character animation.
• Collaborate with rigging artists to ensure characters are set up for optimal animation.
• Create keyframes, motion capture cleanup, and in-between animation as required.
• Ensure animation adheres to the project's style, tone, and technical requirements.
• Work closely with the animation supervisor to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
• Contribute to the development of animation workflows and techniques.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior animators.
• Participate in animation reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain a high level of creativity and technical proficiency in animation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in 3D character animation.
• A strong demo reel showcasing excellent animation skills, performance, and understanding of body mechanics, weight, and emotion.
• Proficiency in industry-standard animation software such as Maya, Blender, or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of animation principles (e.g., timing, spacing, anticipation, follow-through).
• Experience with rigging or understanding of rigging principles is a plus.
• Ability to interpret scripts and storyboards to create compelling character performances.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high‑quality animation.
• Degree or equivalent experience in Animation, Film, or a related art field.
