Placements24 is assisting a prominent aviation client in Pretoria to identify a Senior Aircraft Electrical Systems Engineer. You will design, develop, integrate, and test complex electrical systems for various aircraft, ensuring performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and flight test teams, lead root-cause analyses, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation in aerospace electrical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in aircraft electrical system design/integration.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft electrical power systems (AC/DC, distribution, protection).
• Familiarity with avionics data buses (ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553) and control systems.
• Proficiency with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink) and ECAD.
• Experience with aerospace standards/regulations for electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate aircraft electrical systems (power, distribution, lighting, avionics interfaces).
• Analyze requirements to ensure ARP4754/DO-254 compliance and safety standards.
• Create/review schematics, wiring diagrams, specs, and test procedures.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent name in the aviation manufacturing and maintenance sector based in Pretoria , is seeking an experienced Senior Aircraft Electrical Systems Engineer. This role is integral to the design, development, integration, and testing of complex electrical systems for a range of aircraft. You will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory standards. This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and flight test, to bring innovative aircraft electrical solutions to life. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate aircraft electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, lighting, and avionics interfaces.
• Perform detailed analysis of electrical system requirements, ensuring compliance with ARP4754, DO-254, and other relevant standards.
• Create and review engineering documentation, such as schematics, wiring diagrams, component specifications, and test procedures.
• Conduct system integration testing, troubleshooting, and performance verification of electrical components and systems.
• Collaborate with external suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to ensure the quality and manufacturability of electrical components.
• Lead root cause analysis for electrical system failures or anomalies and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance and flight test crews.

Requirements
