Placements24 is seeking a Senior AI Ethics and Policy Analyst to shape ethical guidelines, policies, and governance for AI across the organization on a remote basis from South Africa. You will lead research, assess regulatory landscapes, and provide strategic recommendations to ensure fair, transparent and accountable AI that aligns with societal values.

The ideal candidate has deep AI knowledge and expertise in ethics, law or public policy, with 7+ years in policy analysis.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Public Policy, Sociology, CS with AI ethics focus.
• 7+ years in policy analysis, ethics, or related tech/data governance roles.
• Deep understanding of AI, ML concepts, capabilities and limits.
• Expertise in ethical frameworks, societal impacts and regulatory analysis.
• Strong writing and communication skills; translate complex concepts into policy.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement AI ethics policies, principles and best practices.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for AI projects.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Public Policy, Sociology, Computer Science (with an AI ethics focus), or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in policy analysis, ethics, or a related field, with a strong focus on technology, AI, or data governance.
• Deep understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, capabilities, and limitations.
• Demonstrated expertise in ethical frameworks, societal impacts of technology, and regulatory analysis.
• Excellent research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to translate complex technical and ethical concepts into clear policy recommendations.
• Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in synthesizing information from diverse sources and articulating persuasive arguments.
