Job summary

Manpower SA (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join a Ballito-based AI platform. You will own backend systems, design APIs and drive integrations across WhatsApp, voice, webchat and email for enterprise clients.

You’ll mentor engineers, shape architecture, and deliver scalable AI-powered solutions in production. Collaboration with clients to translate requirements into robust technical outcomes is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend experience building and maintaining production systems.
• Strong Python or TypeScript (Node.js) skills.
• Experience designing APIs and integrating third-party systems.
• Good knowledge of PostgreSQL and data modelling.
• Experience with cloud infra, CI/CD, logging and monitoring.
• Experience deploying LLM-powered features in production.
• Experience with queues and event-driven architectures.
• Mentoring or leading junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs and third-party integrations.
• Develop and optimise AI-powered applications and agent orchestration systems.
• Own features from design to deployment, monitoring and improvement.
• Ensure system reliability, performance, security and uptime across production.
• Collaborate with clients to scope technical requirements and define success criteria.
• Translate client needs into practical technical solutions and communicate architectural decisions.
• Monitor deployed AI agents and report on business value.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with internal teams to feed client learnings back into product development.
