Placements24 is seeking a Senior Aerospace Project Manager to lead complex aerospace initiatives from concept to completion. This hybrid role based in Stellenbosch requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and a track record of delivering on-time, on-budget projects in the aerospace sector.

You will coordinate engineering teams, suppliers, and clients, manage scopes, budgets, and schedules, ensure compliance with aerospace standards, and drive continuous improvement.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years of progressive project management experience in aerospace.
• Experience managing large-scale, complex aerospace programs.
• Proficiency with PM methodologies and tools (MS Project, JIRA).
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

About the Role

Our client, a distinguished firm in the aerospace manufacturing and development sector, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Aerospace Project Manager to lead critical projects from conception through to completion. This hybrid role, based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, ZA , requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of successfully managing complex aerospace initiatives. You will be responsible for overseeing project scope, budgets, timelines, and resources, while ensuring alignment with company objectives and client requirements. This position involves significant interaction with engineering teams, clients, suppliers, and senior management, necessitating strong leadership and communication skills. The ideal candidate possesses a comprehensive understanding of aerospace technologies, project management methodologies, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the execution of complex aerospace projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and within-scope delivery.


• Develop detailed project plans, including scope definition, work breakdown structures, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.


• Coordinate and direct cross-functional project teams, including engineers, technicians, and support staff.


• Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and implement cost control measures.


• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement mitigation plans.


• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and senior management regarding project status and performance.


• Ensure compliance with all relevant aerospace industry standards, regulations, and contractual obligations.


• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all project participants.


• Conduct project reviews and post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned and identify areas for process improvement.


• Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely delivery of procured goods and services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.


• Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in project management within the aerospace industry.


• Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex aerospace projects.


• Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA).


• Strong understanding of aerospace design, manufacturing, and testing processes.


• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.


• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• PMP certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
