Job description
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Accounting & Compliance
- Deep understanding and application of IFRS and IAS, especially IFRS 15 and IFRS 16.
- Conduct detailed research on complex accounting issues and produce technical documentation.
- Guide on accounting treatments and disclosures aligned with IFRS/IAS updates.
- Treasury & Forex Management
- Manage treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and cash utilization.
- Oversee Forex transactions and related accounting.
- Manage credit card expenses and variance analysis.
- General Ledger & Financial Control
- Maintain General Ledger integrity, including journal entries and data accuracy.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes for timely reporting.
- Reconciliations
- Perform and review bank reconciliations and petty cash management.
- Fixed Assets Management
- Maintain Fixed Asset Register, ensuring IFRS and tax compliance.
- Oversee asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and impairments.
- Cashbook Oversight
- Manage the FACS cashbook system and liaise with Hyphen for efficient processes.
- Budgeting
- Assist in annual budgeting, forecasts, and long-term planning.
- Support scenario analysis and strategic decisions.
- Financial Reporting & Audits
- Assist in preparing and reviewing IFRS-compliant financial statements.
- Coordinate audit responses.
- Taxation Management
- Prepare tax documentation and ensure compliance with tax obligations.
- Financial Analysis & Variance Reporting
- Conduct monthly income statement reviews.
- Provide management with analysis and insights.
Minimum requirements
- Professional Qualification: BCom Accounting Honours or SAICA articles.
- Experience: At least 3 years in progressive accounting roles, with 2+ years in senior or supervisory capacity.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, taxation, and treasury.
