Company Wellness Solutions seeks a hands‑on Senior Accountant based in Johannesburg to manage day‑to‑day accounting, support financial reporting, and contribute to tax‑compliant benefits administration. This role supports the CFO / Finance leadership and helps scale finance processes for a growing wellness services business.
Core Responsibilities
- Month‑end accounting : Prepare reconciliations, journal entries, fixed asset schedules and support monthly close.
- Management reporting : Produce management accounts, variance analysis and support preparation of board‑ready packs.
- Treasury support : Maintain cashbook, assist with cash‑flow updates and manage banking transactions.
- Tax and payroll support : Prepare VAT returns, EMP support files and assist with payroll month‑end and employee benefits documentation.
- Controls and compliance : Maintain SOX‑lite controls, support audits and remediate routine control findings.
- Systems and process improvement : Support ERP maintenance, transactional automations and creation of standard operating procedures.
- Vendor and procurement support : Reconcile supplier statements, process supplier payments and support procurement approvals.
- Cross‑functional collaboration : Work closely with HR on payroll queries, benefits substantiation and employee tax documentation.
Key Performance Areas and KPIs
- Accurate and timely month‑end : Reconciliations and management accounts within agreed SLAs.
- VAT and payroll accuracy : VAT returns and payroll inputs error rate below target.
- Cash and supplier management : Timely cashbook updates and supplier statement reconciliations.
- Process automation : Number of transactional processes automated or documented.
- Audit readiness : Audit queries closed within agreed timelines.
- Stakeholder responsiveness : Internal stakeholder satisfaction with finance support.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualification : BCom in Accounting, National Diploma or equivalent; part‑qualified or fully qualified CAs and ACCAs are welcome.
- Experience : 3 to 6 years post‑article experience in accounting or corporate finance roles; exposure to VAT and payroll preferred.
- Sector : Experience in services, healthcare, wellness or SMEs advantageous but not required.
- Systems : Hands‑on with ERPs, Excel and basic BI / reporting tools.
