Job description

We are currently looking for a Semi-Skilled Trailer Technician to assist in the maintenance, repair, inspection, and servicing of trailers and related fleet equipment, ensuring roadworthiness, safety compliance, and operational readiness.

Minimum Requirements
  • Matric / Grade 10 minimum (N3 Mechanical advantageous)
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a trailer or heavy-vehicle maintenance environment
Basic Knowledge
  • Trailer brakes & suspension systems
  • Axles, wheel bearings, and hubs
  • Electrical systems (12V / 24V)
  • Welding / cutting tools
  • Valid driver's licence (Code 10 / EC advantageous)
  • Experience in a transport / logistics workshop is beneficial
  • Mechanical aptitude & problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with routine maintenance and repairs on trailers (flat-deck, tautliner, tanker, super-link, etc.)
  • Perform brake adjustments, wheel bearing checks, suspension component checks, and minor repairs
  • Assist with air-brake system repairs and fault finding under supervision
  • Replace lights, wiring, reflectors, and basic electrical trailer components
  • Conduct tyre checks, tyre changes, and wheel torquing
  • Assist with welding and fabrication work (basic MIG / Arc welding skills an advantage)
  • Conduct trailer inspections and report defects
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and tools
  • Follow workshop safety, PPE, and operational procedures
  • Complete job cards and assist with service records
  • Support qualified mechanics with major repairs when required.
