Minimum Requirements :
- Matric / Grade 10 minimum (N3 Mechanical advantageous)
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a trailer or heavy-vehicle maintenance environment
- Basic knowledge of :
Trailer brakes & suspension systems
- Axles, wheel bearings, and hubs
- Electrical systems (12V / 24V)
- Welding / cutting tools
- Valid driver's licence (Code 10 / EC advantageous)
- Experience in a transport / logistics workshop is beneficial
- Mechanical aptitude & problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist with routine maintenance and repairs on trailers (flat-deck, tautliner, tanker, super-link, etc.)
- Perform brake adjustments, wheel bearing checks, suspension component checks, and minor repairs
- Assist with air-brake system repairs and fault finding under supervision
- Replace lights, wiring, reflectors, and basic electrical trailer components
- Conduct tyre checks, tyre changes, and wheel torquing
- Assist with welding and fabrication work (basic MIG / Arc welding skills an advantage)
- Conduct trailer inspections and report defects
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and tools
- Follow workshop safety, PPE, and operational procedures
- Complete job cards and assist with service records
- Support qualified mechanics with major repairs when required.
