SEMH Teaching Assistant – Day-to-day supply from as soon as possible

These flexible opportunities are ideal for SEMH Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You’ll be supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a range of inclusive and supportive environments.

Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive interactions
  • Support pupils in developing social and emotional skills
  • Work collaboratively with school staff and external professionals
  • Adapt resources and strategies to meet individual learning needs
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reviews
Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A flexible and proactive attitude to working across different settings
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or child development are desirable
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
