Placements24 is seeking a skilled Cloud Security Engineer to join the IT security team in Vereeniging, Gauteng. This hybrid role combines remote work with in-office collaboration to secure our client's cloud infrastructure and data assets.

The ideal candidate will design, implement, and maintain security controls across AWS/Azure/GCP, lead incident response, and work with DevOps to embed security in the SDLC while staying ahead of evolving cloud threats.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in cloud security engineering.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP security features.
• Proficiency in Python or Bash for automation.
• Knowledge of IAM and incident response.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security controls for cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures for cloud usage.
• Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) solutions in the cloud.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing.
• Monitor cloud environments for security threats and breaches, and lead incident response efforts.
• Automate security tasks and processes using scripting and IaC tools.
• Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and standards (GDPR, ISO 27001).
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure secure application deployments.
• Provide security guidance and training to technical teams.

• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
• Understanding of networking concepts and security protocols.
• Experience with container security and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with security compliance frameworks and best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, AWS Certified Security – Specialty) are highly desirable.
