Security Officer
A security officer must be well-trained in surveillance and dealing with perpetrators. They will possess a high level of observation. The goal is to help the company in maintaining excellent working conditions by keeping facilities safe and problem-free.

Responsibilities for the Security Officer
- Assume overall responsibility for the safety and security of designated areas of the complex.
- Ensure that designated areas are patrolled in accordance with outlined security procedures and record such patrols on the On‑Site Check system.
- That all clocking points are clocked every hour and that patrols last a minimum of 45 minutes.
- Ensure that rest breaks between patrols are adhered to and last no more than 15 minutes.
- Identify potential security risks, respond report according to the site SOP reporting procedures.
- Ensure that access control at the Main Gate of the site is implemented and adhered to.
- All vehicles and pedestrians and contractors are to be checked, verified, and directed to reception.
- No unauthorised access is permitted and officers must be vigilant and steadfast when dealing with transgressors.
- Whilst on duty, officers must refrain from standing in groups and talking. Officers must remain alert and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
- Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents that take place at the site.
- In the event of an incident taking place the Site Senior must inform the Control Room who in turn will inform the TSU Contract Manager, and Client of such incident.
- All incident reports are to be completed and handed in within 24 hours of the incident taking place.
- Ensure all employees and visitors have proper credentials for accessing buildings (ID badges and passes)
- Respond to emergencies and incidents within designated areas promptly and according to policy.
- Assist employees and visitors with any concerns they might have relating to security and safety issues.
- Escalate emergency situations to the relevant role players which includes law enforcement, fire services and emergency services.
- Monitor alarms and security cameras and investigate any breaches.
- Maintain all relevant site registers whilst on duty and ensure that they are kept neat and tidy.
- Ensure that when members report for duty, that they are in the correct uniform.
- Members must ensure that their uniform is neat, clean and tidy at all times. All defects are to be reported to the Contract Manager.
Minimum requirements
- High school diploma preferred.
- Valid Psira Grade B/C grade certificate - registered and up to date.
- Previous security-related work experience preferential.
- Ability to stay level-headed and respond quickly in stressful situations.
- Acceptable written and oral communication skills.
- Comfortable kneeling, carrying, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Pass all background checks.
- Ability to perform continuous physical exertion as needed.
- Working knowledge of basic security techniques.
Suitable candidates must reside in the Somerset/Strand/Macassar area.
