Job summary

A property management company is seeking a Security Manager to oversee estate security operations and manage a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have SIA accreditation, strong leadership skills, and extensive experience in the security industry. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe environment, conducting fire drills, and maintaining effective communication with various stakeholders. This role spans 40 hours per week and is based on-site in East London.

Job description
Security Manager - Permanent, Canning Town

Hours : 40 per week, 08.30 - 17.30 Monday to Friday

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, motivate, inspire, encourage and develop your Security team and wider estate team to enable and allow them to confidently and consistently deliver an ever evolving residential lifestyle experience across the sites.
  • The Security Manager will provide the efficient and effective management of all aspects of estate Security and CCTV management.
  • To act as manager on duty sharing this responsibility with other management team members.
  • Recruitment, management and supervision of the in-house security team, ensuring the Ballymore brand values are at the centre of our service provision.
  • To provide a secure and safe environment for the residents, commercial tenants and staff.
  • To be able to use a variety of software systems which are used to manage communication with residents and other stakeholders including use of the resident app for the purposes of managing the business.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Property Director, reviewing daily shift reports, monthly reports and meet formally once a month.
  • To ensure the security team is conducting constant estate patrols and to provide daily patrols report.
  • To ensure the security team is conducting building patrols as part of their duties and acting to identify any shortfalls in service delivery.
  • To prepare the team rota and allocate / approve holidays, accordingly, always ensuring we have sufficient staffing levels.
  • Ensure appropriate and adequate staffing levels across the portfolio, work closely with the Talent Team interviewing, hiring and training. Management and development of staff in the site-based Team, ensuring that they are motivated and trained to achieve the necessary levels of skills and experience and that they operate to the appropriate service standards and procedures
  • Conduct appraisals, reviews and performance meetings with the team.
  • Lead and coordinate with the senior management, the six months fire drills and weekly fire tests.
  • Be the first form of contact to residents in circumstances of security and safety.
  • Deal with any illegally parked vehicles in the estate in the appropriate manner.
  • Build a positive and professional relationship with resident’s association, stake holders in the estate such as landlords, commercial tenants and housing association. Outside the estate : liaising with the external bodies such as : Police, Tower of Hamlets, noise pollution team etc.
  • To work with the site Facilities Management team to define and regularly review the implementation of the Fire and Health & Safety policy, ensuring absolute compliance with all legislation in accordance with all professional best practice guidelines e.g. RICS code of conduct, ARMA and IRPM
Skills, experience & qualifications
  • SIA Accreditation
  • Strong track record of working collaboratively, diplomatically and effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong leadership skills that have been developed in a management environment.
  • Knowledge and experience security industry, including regulations / requirements
  • Management experience within security industry
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety Management in mixed-use developments.
  • Extensive experience of leading both in house and externally contracted services in a complex multi-site environment.
  • Ability to execute and implement strategic and tactical plans.
  • Ability to drive organisational and cultural change to create a sense of community
  • The correct approach to energise and encourage others to collaborate effectively while motivating and managing the abilities of the team.
  • Knowledge of the Landlord and tenant Act 1985 Supervisory / Management Qualification
