Job description
Overview

The Non-Communicable Diseases Research Unit (NCDRU) is seeking a Scientist to advance research on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with a particular focus on strengthening the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health thematic area. The role includes conducting research to identify early biomarkers and risk factors for NCDs, as well as developing evidence-based interventions for prevention. The successful candidate will also be expected to secure grant funding, publish research findings, and build collaborations aligned with NCDRU’s strategic priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate studies / projects in compliance with scientific protocols, ethical guidelines, policies, and procedures as required by the unit (laboratory / community)
  • Undertake research to identify early biomarkers and risk factors, and develop evidence-based interventions for the prevention of NCDs
  • Data management and analysis

  • Publications and grant funding
  • Contributing to SAMRC / NCDRU citizenship
