Our clients are on the hunt for a SAP Solution Manager Consultant to provide expertise in configuring, maintaining, and optimizing SAP Solution Manager to support the SAP R / 3 ECC6 EHP7 and SAP S / 4 HANA environments. The consultant will deliver both technical and functional support, ensuring seamless integration, efficient operations, and proactive system maintenance.

Project Overview

The project involves the provision of technical and functional support and maintenance services for SAP R / 3 ECC6 EHP7 and SAP S / 4 HANA systems. The SAP Solution Manager Consultant will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and optimization of these systems, leveraging SAP Solution Manager capabilities to support system monitoring, change management, incident management, and overall system maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
System Configuration and Administration
  • Configure and maintain SAP Solution Manager 7.2 or higher to support ECC6 EHP7 and S / 4 HANA environments.
  • Set up and manage Solution Manager functionalities, including Change Request Management (ChaRM), Incident Management, and Business Process Monitoring.
  • Implement and maintain Solution Manager tools such as Technical Monitoring, System Monitoring, and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
Technical Support
  • Monitor system performance using Solution Manager tools (e.g., EarlyWatch Alerts, System Health Checks).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to SAP ECC6 EHP7 and S / 4 HANA systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis for incidents and provide recommendations for system optimization.
  • Support system upgrades, patches, and enhancements in collaboration with Basis and development teams.
Functional Support
  • Collaborate with functional teams to map business processes to Solution Manager for process documentation and monitoring.
  • Configure and support Business Process Operations (BPO) and Interface Monitoring.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to end-users and internal teams on Solution Manager functionalities.
Change and Release Management
  • Manage change requests using ChaRM, ensuring compliance with organizational change control processes.
  • Coordinate with project teams to implement changes, upgrades, and migrations while minimizing disruptions.
  • Maintain transport management processes and ensure alignment with SAP best practices.
Maintenance and Optimization
  • Proactively monitor system performance and recommend improvements to enhance system stability and efficiency.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, including system health checks, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Support system integration and interface monitoring between ECC6, S / 4 HANA, and other third-party systems.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, processes, and issue resolutions in Solution Manager.
  • Generate and analyze reports from Solution Manager for system performance, incidents, and change management metrics.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on system status and improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience with SAP Solution Manager 7.2 or higher.
  • Proven experience in supporting SAP R / 3 ECC6 EHP7 and / or SAP S / 4 HANA systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience in configuring and managing ChaRM, Technical Monitoring, and Business Process Monitoring.
  • Experience with SAP system upgrades, migrations, or enhancements is highly desirable.
Certifications (Preferred)
  • SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP Solution Manager.
  • SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP S / 4 HANA.
  • ITIL Foundation or higher for IT service management processes.
Technical Skills
  • Deep knowledge of SAP Solution Manager modules (e.g., ChaRM, Incident Management, Technical Monitoring, ALM).
  • Proficiency in SAP Basis administration, including system monitoring, performance tuning, and transport management.
  • Familiarity with SAP ECC6 EHP7 and S / 4 HANA architecture, integration, and configuration.
  • Knowledge of SAP best practices for system maintenance and support.
  • Experience with ABAP debugging and performance analysis is a plus.
Functional Skills
  • Ability to map business processes to Solution Manager for monitoring and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of SAP functional modules (e.g., FI, CO, MM, SD) and their integration with Solution Manager.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills to address functional and technical issues.
