  • They are seeking an experienced Project Sales Specialist to join their dynamic Johannesburg team – someone who can leverage existing relationships in the retail and commercial project space, particularly with major retail groups, developers, and store design teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Retail Project Business Development : Identify and pursue opportunities with retailers, developers, and retail design / project teams for in‑store and corporate lighting installations (not retail product sales).
  • Relationship Management : Maintain and grow strategic relationships with national and regional retailers, architects, project managers, and shopfitting companies to secure lighting projects for new builds, refurbishments, and rollouts.
  • Client Engagement & Consultation : Engage with clients to understand design intent, lighting requirements, and technical specifications to propose tailored lighting solutions.
  • Project Sales & Execution : Manage the sales cycle from lead generation through to project close, ensuring timely and accurate quoting, specification, and delivery.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with internal design, technical, and operations teams to ensure project feasibility, design accuracy, and client satisfaction.
  • Market Insight : Stay abreast of retail expansion plans, refurbishment schedules, and industry developments to proactively position the company’s lighting solutions.
  • Sales Reporting & Targets : Maintain detailed sales pipelines, forecasts, and activity reports; consistently meet or exceed sales and revenue targets.
Requirements
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in the commercial or industrial lighting sector, with a focus on project-based sales.
  • Proven track record of working on lighting projects for retail environments (new stores, refurbishments, rollouts, head office fit‑outs, etc.).
  • Established network and relationships with retail groups, architects, designers, project managers, and developers.
  • Strong technical understanding of lighting design and specification.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Results-driven, proactive, and customer-focused.
