Sales Representative (Timber Sector) – Cape Town.

Are you a sales representative with experience calling on manufacturers in the furniture and cabinetry industry, where you have built sound relationships?

Our client, based in Epping, a supplier of raw materials, plywood, timber and consumables, is looking for your experience offering technical advice and product recommendations.

Your current client relationships and eye for identifying new business opportunities in this sector will be first prize!

Requirements
  • Matric, or relevant qualification
  • Proven experience in sales, ideally within the sheet timber supplies, machinery or manufacturing industries
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle (essential)
  • Strong technical knowledge of wood types, applications and processing
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated, target-driven and able to work independently
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Background in Industrial Sales, Wood Technology, Manufacturing or related fields
  • Knowledge of the footwear manufacturing process and machinery is an advantage
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers in the footwear, furniture and timber-related sectors
  • Achieve agreed sales targets
  • Promote and sell sheet timber supplies
  • Identify new business opportunities and grow the company’s customer base
  • Conduct regular site and customer visits
  • Provide technical advice and product recommendations based on customer needs
  • Prepare quotations, follow up on leads and negotiate sales terms
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity and product developments
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient service delivery
