Job description
Overview

Van Schaik Bookstore needs a sales assistant who possesses good interpersonal and administrative skills and can function well under pressure.

Responsibilities
  • Unloading and Inspection of incoming shipment
  • Unpack new stock and verify delivery notes and invoices
  • Record daily receipts of invoices on the system and update any price changes
  • Processing new and inter-branch stock
  • Handle and process stock returns
  • Accurately and efficiently package books and other items for dispatch
  • Prepare parcels for courier collection and arrange courier bookings
  • Maintain administrative process, including customer orders, pro-formas, enquiries, invoices, waybills and supplier returns
  • Applying the company’s stock control and customer service policies
  • Daily disposal of used packaging material and maintain neatness and order within the section
  • Organise, store, and maintain stock in storage area, ensuring proper stock rotation to prevent outdated inventory
  • Handle customer enquiries via telephone, fax and e-mail
  • Prepare quotations for individual customers, institutions and libraries
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist with enquiries at the pay point
  • Perform physical work that may be labour-intensive
  • Drive the company vehicle for ad hoc deliveries when required.
Requirements
