Job description

The SAICA Trainee Accountant position offers an opportunity for aspiring Chartered Accountants to complete their SAICA-accredited training contract while gaining practical exposure to auditing, accounting, taxation, and advisory services.

You will work under the supervision of qualified professionals and gain hands‑on experience in both assurance and advisory environments at a reputable Accounting firm.

Responsibilities

Assist with audit engagements from planning through completion in accordance with auditing standards. Prepare working papers, reconciliations, and financial statements under supervision. Perform tax computations, assist with tax returns, and liaise with SARS when required. Conduct substantive testing, analytical reviews, and control testing. Assist in accounting and bookkeeping for various clients, including preparation of management accounts. Participate in client meetings and maintain strong professional relationships. Ensure compliance with SAICA training regulations and firm policies. Continuously develop technical and professional skills through structured learning and on‑the‑job experience.

Requirements

Completed or currently completing a BCom Accounting or BCompt degree (SAICA-accredited). Completion of or enrollment in CTA / Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) advantageous. Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability. Excellent attention to detail and time management. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and work as part of a professional team.
