We are urgently looking for the Safety Officer to join our team on site.
Tasks Will Include
Planning
- To review, understand and acknowledge the understanding of Legal, Statutory and Client requirements and specifications;
- To review, understand and acknowledge the understanding of the ACTOM EPC Management system policies, plans and procedures;
- To establish site specific policies, plans and procedures in accordance with the scope of work, client requirements, specifications and the ACTOM EPC Management system;
- To assess and document risks and control measures;
Implementation
- To compile site specific safety, health, environmental files and obtain approval;
- To apply policies, plans and procedures;
- To communicate policies, plans and procedures, create awareness and ensure employee’s understanding thereof;
- To communicate risks associated with the work, create awareness and ensure employee’s understanding thereof;
- To arrange HSE required training, including induction training and medical surveillance;
- To establish personal protective equipment needs and procurement thereof;
- To establish a health and safety committee, arrange monthly safety meetings and keep records thereof;
Maintain, Control & Review
- To review the effectiveness of the policies, plans and procedures implemented;
- To ensure daily safe task instructions and safety awareness is maintained;
- To ensure tool, plant and equipment inspections is carried out and deviations is reported and addressed;
- To record near miss events.
Monitor
- To ensure monthly site statistics recording;
- To ensure monthly self-audits and quarterly internal audits is conducted and that all findings raised is addressed timeously;
- To ensure client audits findings raised is addressed timeously and recommendations is considered;
- To address safety related issues arising on site or discussed in monthly meetings appropriately;
- To ensure all incidents is recorded, reported and when required investigated, near miss events to be documented and records to be kept;
- To ensure assessed risks control measures is implemented and when no longer appropriate addressed;
- To ensure that monthly reports, records or any other documents required by the Site or Divisional HSE Manager is done, and within the prescribed time frame;
- To ensure records is kept and up to date.
Qualifications and Experience
- Matric
- SAMTRAC or equivalent training e.g. SHEMTRAC, NEBOSCH, IRCON;
- SACPCMP Registered and in Good Standing;
- Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (HIRA);
- Root Cause Analysis Technique (RCAT) or equivalent Incident Investigation training;
- Auditing training;
- Legal Liability;
- At least five (3) years’ experience as a HSE Officer
- Computer literacy essential, including the use of Lotus Notes, MS Word and MS Excel
- Valid Driver’s Licence (min. requirement : code B)
- Good command of the English language both written and spoken
