Job description

Roles and Responsibilities

Duties

• Promote occupational health and safety within the organisation and develop safer and healthier ways of working
• Assist with the preparation of construction health and safety plans, policies, procedures and manuals
• Assist in reviewing and updating the health and safety plans, policies, procedures and manuals
• Ensure that the required health and safety documentation was submitted to the relevant authorities
• Compile project specific emergency response and preparedness plans
• Test the effectiveness of the emergency response plans, and make adjustments where required
• Participate in the reporting and investigation of project related incidents
• Oversee the maintenance of all health and safety records for all sites responsible
• Participate in management reviews of the health and safety management system
• Identify system deficiencies and recommend relevant interventions and improvements
• Incorporate changed processes, procedures and documentation into the health and safety management system
• Prepare technical reports in relation to health and safety issues

Requirements

• National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management or NQF Level 6 equivalent
• Registered as a Professional Construction Health and Safety Officer under the SACPCMP
• SAMTRAC Certificate or equivalent Occupational Health and Safety Training
• 5 years experience in similar role in the private sector
• 2-3 years experience in construction and / or housing industry
