Job summary

A government department is seeking a Safety Systems and Reporting Manager who will lead WHS strategy and culture. The Safety Systems and Reporting Manager leads a team of WHS professionals and partners to effectively manage by providing a range of specialist services that support the development implementation and maintenance of health and safety systems and governance whilst ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety legislative requirements.

  • Lead WHS Strategy & Culture Drive the implementation of WHS strategies programs and management systems embedding a strong safety culture across the organisation.
  • Reporting & Insights Develop and coordinate executive‑level WHS reporting using performance dashboards providing actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • System Oversight Manage WHS incident reporting systems and dashboards ensuring smooth administration and effective relationships with service providers.
  • Policy & Training Development Review and maintain Corporate WHS documentation procedures and frameworks; oversee the development of corporate‑level WHS training and induction content.
  • Risk & Incident Management Partner with business units to manage WHS risks oversee incident management and build capability to prevent recurrence.
  • Expert Advice & Innovation Deliver expert solutions on WHS system issues; research emerging trends and implement innovative safety improvements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders to foster a high‑performance WHS culture and empower leadership behaviours.
  • Team Leadership Lead and develop a high‑performing WHS team through clear objectives coaching and capability building.
About You
  • Expert WHS Knowledge Solid understanding of WHS legislation systems and best practice solutions to drive a sustainable high‑performance safety culture.
  • Influencing & Negotiation Skills Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders champion WHS initiatives and model the highest standards of ethics confidentiality and discretion.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement Passion for staying ahead of emerging WHS trends and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Collaboration & Consultation Expertise Strong interpersonal skills to build partnerships and consult effectively across all levels.
  • Attention to Detail A meticulous approach to compliance reporting and documentation.
  • Leadership Capability Ability to lead coach and develop teams to achieve organisational WHS objectives.
Essential Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or related discipline and / or relevant experience overseeing similar role responsibilities within a WHS team.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation regulations and Australian standards.
