Overview
Overall Role Function: The role will be responsible for end-to-end live route tracking and execution management of all routes within a specific Business Unit for which the role will be responsible. This position will be operating on shift as part of a team who will execute 24 hours and 7 days a week. Part of this role's responsibilities will be tracking of routes, alert management, exception management and escalation, Expediting, trending & analysis, communication with drivers and depots and should play an integral part in improving the productivity of operational teams.
Responsibilities
- Daily, Live Execution Management of all routes for assigned Business Unit (BU) Route Execution & Tracking:
- Live visibility and tracking of all routes within the BU on Cella Track
- Tracking and investigation of all “Late” routes
- Tracking Route Compliance, Planned vs Actual KM and Planned vs Actual TAT
- Alert & Exception Management:
- Acknowledgement & Resolution of Alert pop-ups on Cella for applicable BU
- Driver communication and relationship
- Driving corrective action with driver
- Ensure correct escalation processes are being followed
- Actioning alerts according to priority & urgency, e.g. Risk Alert has higher urgency than an Execution Alert
- Master Data:
- Be aware and keep log of all master data or system issues that might cause inaccurate route tracking
- Full understanding of all Control Tower master data fields
- Daily escalation of master data issues to Control Tower Manager
- Admin sense checks:
- Identify and communicate any Operational, administrative exceptions with Operational staff
- Operational Excellence:
- Proactively drive and contribute to a culture of operational excellence
- Drive and improve relationship with Lieben operational team
- Daily interactions with drivers, depot managers and operational managers
- Solve and respond to queries raised by operational teams daily via CT Manager
- Contribute and provide suggestions for improving operational productivity at depots from central Control Tower perspective
- Effective escalation of sub-standard driver behaviour
- Adhere to Control Tower SOP’s and raise with CT Manager where a change is necessary
- Review previous day’s issues to verify improvement
- Regular job rotation and knowledge hand-over within the team
- KPI Management:
- Taking full accountability for KPI’s and contributing towards the improvement of these as part of the Route Compliance dashboard, including all KPI’s as part of the “Job Outcome/KPI” section below
- Reporting:
- Excellent assessment, analysing and evaluation capabilities (Reporting & Insights).
- Check Route Compliance, pick up KPI exceptions, fix and escalate where required.
- End-of-shift report to CT Manager.

- Personal Development: Responsible for own development to increase own competencies for the position function and future leadership growth opportunities.
- Teamwork: Contribute to and be part of driving effective teamwork within Control Tower operations as well as with other business units and across all depots.
- Training & Development: Willingness to be trained on-the-job and take initiative for self-development. Responsible for his/her own training and development to stay updated with latest changes and requirements.
- Highlight to Control Tower Manager where there is a specific gap, assistance needed, or specific training required with regards to any of the above points.
