This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo.

Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • To undertake regular slope monitoring inspections to monitor compliance to the Codes of Practice and Procedures and to identify areas with possible slope instability.
  • Monitors and reports stability of open pit slopes on daily basis.
  • Liaise with the Foreman's, Shift Supervisors and Pit Superintendents on shifts.
  • Monitor Slope instability using slope monitoring instruments in Mogalakwena slope monitoring strategy (i.e. Radars, Piezometers, T4D and Geomos) and report to the Strata Control Officer.
  • Guideline supervision in standards for safety and performance.
  • Participation in the investigation of relevant Rock Engineering related incidents and accidents.
  • Support the Strata Control Officer/Section Rock Mechanics with rock engineering information to compile reports.
  • Gives training to the operations personnel in basic Hazard Identification and risk management.
  • Willing and flexible to work 4/4 roster and 74 work arrangements. Attends training courses as prescribed by the responsible Rock EngineerReceptive to on-the-job training.

This role is at a Band 8 level reporting to the Pit Rock Engineer

Qualifications
  • Matric with Maths and Physical Science 60% and above
  • Diploma/Degree in Mining or Geology will be advantageous
Experience
  • 1-year experience in Mining or Technical environment
