Job description

Interwaste, a leader in waste management solutions across Southern Africa, is seeking a seasoned Roaming Supervisor to join our team at the East London Branch. Role Overview

Responsible for managing client sites and ensuring that recyclables are salvaged and separated from waste according to type and loaded in collections bags and supervising staff members deployed on different sites. Make bookings with the controller for recyclables and waste to be collected. Adhere to service level agreement. Ensure staff members load optimally before collections are done.

Key Responsibilities
Operations
  • Ensure client sites are managed properly
  • Build relationship with clients
  • SHEQ training for all staff onsite aligned with client safety rules
  • Manage staff time and attendance and forward report for capturing at end of the week
  • Issuing/recording of safety gear to staff members and copy placed on file
  • Action monthly safety talks and record to place copy on file
  • Attend to HR /Training / I.R matters on behalf of staff members in conjunction with group H.R officer for guidance
  • Ensure recyclables are separated from general waste by staff onsite and placed in correct bins by grade
  • Make bookings for collections of all waste streams i.e Recyclables/General/Hazardous
Industrial Relations
  • Deal with staff transgressors in line with company’s disciplinary code
  • Incident recording/reporting to SHEQ department
  • Engage with Controllers for load collections
  • Ensure that staff onsite separate and load waste optimally
Customer Relations
  • Visit Key Clients once a week
  • Build good relationship with clients and promote the organization brand
  • Identify new business opportunities and discuss with manager ( scrap metal etc)
  • Attend monthly meetings with the client
  • Report/record on client surveys monthly basis
  • Resolve client complaints and elevate to Depot Manager if unsure
  • Ensure compliancy by staff to Service Level Agreements
Administration
  • Daily check of clock in reports and weekly reconcile all clock in reports on various sites and forward to payroll
  • Hand out and control all payslips
  • Administrate all leave and sick leave documents for staff and forward to payroll
  • Resolve any pay discrepancies arising from staff members in comparison with reports
Health and Safety
  • Own a safety file whilst visiting client premises
  • Briefing and enforcing safe working procedures to all staff members on various sites
  • Attend monthly safety meetings at client sites as well at the depot
  • Assessment of all staff members prior to employment
  • Ensuring PPE is issued and placed on record
  • Bring transgressors to book
General Working Conditions
  • Replacement of Absent/Leave staff members on client premises
  • Leave schedule planned accordingly for the year
  • Adhere to client service level agreement
  • Liaise with Depot manager when unsure of any operational matters
  • Any other reasonable adhoc duty as required or requested by management
Desired Experience and Qualification
  • Matric / Grade 12
  • 2-3 years experience in a similar role
  • Waste management experience advantageous
  • Valid driver’s license
