Our reputable Foodservice Equipment client, based in Johannesburg, is currently seeking an experienced Risk, Security & Facilities Manager to join their team.
Purpose of the Role:
- The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the management of risk, security, occupational health and safety, and facilities across the business.
- The role requires a dynamic, energetic, and hands‑on individual who can identify, evaluate, and manage security, safety, operational and facilities‑related risks.
- The successful candidate will develop and implement effective strategies, policies, procedures, and controls to protect the company’s employees, property, stock, equipment, and facilities.
- The role will also take responsibility for the effective maintenance of the company’s buildings, infrastructure, equipment, security systems, and supporting services.

Key Responsibilities:
Risk & Security Management
- Take overall responsibility for risk and security management across the business.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, security, safety, and business risks.
- Manage and control security officers and external security service providers.
- Monitor the performance and service levels of security providers.
- Manage and oversee all security systems.
- Ensure CCTV, access‑control systems, alarms, and related security technology remain effective and operational.
- Implement and maintain effective security and loss‑prevention controls.
- Identify potential areas of stock loss, theft, damage, or operational exposure.
- Conduct regular security, risk, and operational inspections.
- Investigate security incidents, theft, stock losses, and other irregularities.
- Prepare accurate investigation reports.
- Recommend and implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
- Maintain accurate risk registers.
- Ensure identified risks are actively monitored and managed.
- Provide management with regular updates regarding security concerns and significant business risks.
Loss Prevention & Stock Protection
- Develop and maintain effective stock‑loss prevention controls.
- Identify weaknesses in stock‑handling, access‑control and security processes.
- Monitor areas where the business may be exposed to theft, fraud, damage or loss.
- Investigate stock losses and unexplained variances.
- Work with warehouse and operational management to strengthen stock‑protection controls.
- Recommend practical measures to reduce losses and improve accountability.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored.
Occupational Health & Safety
- Take overall responsibility for Occupational Health and Safety within the workplace.
- Ensure compliance with applicable OHS legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments.
- Identify unsafe conditions, behaviours, and operational practices.
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
- Manage OHS training and employee‑awareness programmes.
- Manage emergency procedures, emergency planning, and workplace drills.
- Ensure appropriate safety documentation, registers and records are maintained.
- Ensure all required OHS appointments and responsibilities are appropriately managed.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the business.
- Work closely with management and employees to improve workplace safety.
Facilities Management
- Take overall responsibility for the management and maintenance of company facilities and infrastructure.
- Ensure buildings, warehouses, offices, staff areas, parking areas, yards, and other physical assets are maintained to the required standard.
- Ensure the workplace remains clean, safe, secure, functional, and fit for purpose.
- Develop and manage preventative‑maintenance programmes.
- Coordinate scheduled and emergency repairs.
- Monitor the condition of facilities, equipment and infrastructure.
- Identify maintenance requirements before they become operational problems.
- Manage contractors, maintenance companies and facilities‑related service providers.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations for maintenance, repairs and facilities‑related projects.
- Ensure service providers complete work according to the required quality, safety, and service standards.
- Monitor facilities‑related expenditure.
- Control maintenance and facilities costs.
- Ensure statutory inspections, certificates, licences, and compliance requirements remain valid and up to date.
- Identify facilities‑related risks and implement remedial and preventative measures.
- Assist with facility expansions, renovations, relocations, and capital projects when required.
Contractor & Service‑Provider Management
- Source and appoint suitable contractors and service providers.
- Manage the performance of security, maintenance, and facilities‑related service providers.
- Ensure contractors comply with company safety, security and operational requirements.
- Monitor contractor attendance, quality, turnaround times and costs.
- Obtain and compare quotations.
- Address poor service or non‑compliance timeously.
- Maintain accurate contractor and service‑provider records.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and according to agreed specifications.
Incident Management & Investigations
- Manage the reporting and investigation of security, safety and operational incidents.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, theft, stock losses, property damage and security breaches.
- Gather relevant information and supporting evidence.
- Identify the root causes of incidents.
- Prepare clear and accurate investigation reports.
- Recommend appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
- Track corrective actions through to completion.
- Identify incident trends and recurring areas of risk.
- Escalate serious incidents and risks to management.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records relating to security, incidents, risks, OHS and facilities.
- Prepare and submit regular management reports.
- Provide management with practical recommendations.
- Conduct and document daily, weekly, and monthly inspections where required.
- Develop and maintain relevant policies, procedures, registers, and control measures.
- Monitor security, maintenance, and facilities‑related performance.
- Track significant risks, incidents, and outstanding corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate statutory documentation and compliance records.
- Provide management with regular updates on security concerns, facility requirements, and operational risks.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
- A relevant qualification in Risk Management, Safety Management, Facilities Management or a related field is essential.
- PSIRA Grade A registration will be highly beneficial.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5–7 years’ relevant experience in risk, security, occupational health and safety, facilities management, or a closely related role.
- Experience within a warehouse, distribution, retail, manufacturing, or similarly operational environment is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ management or supervisory experience.
- Proven experience managing security officers and external security service providers.
- Strong practical experience in risk management and security operations.
- Proven loss‑prevention and stock‑protection experience.
- Experience investigating security incidents, stock losses, accidents and operational risks.
- Experience managing CCTV, access control, alarms and related security technology.
- Strong Occupational Health and Safety experience.
- Good working knowledge of OHS legislation and workplace safety requirements.
- Experience conducting workplace inspections and risk assessments.
- Experience managing OHS training, emergency procedures and workplace drills.
- Proven facilities‑management experience.
- Experience managing buildings, warehouses, offices, yards and supporting infrastructure.
- Experience developing and managing preventative‑maintenance programmes.
