Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities
  • On Site Security: Complete a weekly checklist of all irregularities or risks to the employees, building or equipment as per the prescribed document. These issues are checked on a daily basis however the checklist sent needs to be sent weekly. This document needs to be sent to the Client Security Manager.
  • On Site Security: Ensure that all client company assets and equipment are secure (e.g., server room, fire sprinkler pump room, generator room, etc.).
  • On Site Security: Ensure that building alarm system is in working order and report any irregularities (e.g., ATS Fail).
  • On Site Security: Oversee on-site security function as per the set out Standard Operating Procedures.
Reports
  • Ensure that all incident/occurrence reports are completed and distributed to the appropriate recipients in a timely manner.
Systems
  • Keep systems fully operational and report discrepancies timeously (e.g., fire alarm panel faults, perimeter electric fence faults).
  • Ensure investigations are completed timeously and correctly.
Health & Safety
  • Ensure OHASA standards are adhered to by employees. Refer to the onsite House Rules Document.
  • Attend to all health and safety issues of employees and report to the Plant Manager & client Security Manager.
Security Staff
  • Ensure all Thorburn staff are full complement and presentable for work.
  • Provide training to on-site security staff as per site SOP and inducted by Thorburn Security Management.
  • Ensure that they follow client procedures and policies.
  • Ensure familiarity with all alarm signals and how to respond.
Alarm activations
  • Respond to all alarm activations timeously.
  • Follow the correct procedures in the event of an alarm activation.
Queries
  • Attend to all queries timeously.
Testing
  • Follow testing procedures for security systems, including fire break glass units and intrusion alarm testing, evacuation system triggers, generator and fire sprinkler system checks, and regular testing documentation.
Administration
  • Complete all administrative duties timeously and correctly.
Skills and Competencies
  • Experience in Security Risk Control.
  • Valid Drivers Licence.
  • Be innovative, critical thinker, and problem solving skills.
  • Good Communication.
  • MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint.
