About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Risk and Compliance Attorney to actively contribute to opportunity development, revenue growth, and service delivery improvement. The role includes managing project and client teams to achieve both team and individual targets, while fostering a professional work environment and a culture of excellence. You will own the dedicated client account management strategy and ensure the development of a diverse set of skills for both personal growth and team progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., POPIA, FICA, FAIS, Companies Act etc.)
  • Ability to lead Customer Identification Program (CIP) for clients across geographies and product types for regulatory compliance
  • Draft and remediate firmwide compliance policies on the back of statutory and regulatory updates and assist in preparing reports for clients as part of regulatory operations support
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance
  • Identify and assess legal risks associated with commercial contracts and provide strategic recommendations on risk mitigation
  • Ability to analyse complex legal issues
  • High quality service delivery and continuous service delivery improvement
  • Establish knowledge portfolios and build sector specific expertise
  • Encourage and implement global knowledge sharing and cross utilisation
  • Team guidance, capacity analysis and day to day assistance
  • Client reporting and continuous dialogue
  • Weekly maintenance of playbooks
Required Qualifications
  • Admitted attorney with a legal degree
  • A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in risk and compliance within a commercial or corporate environment
  • CAMS or CFE certification will be an added advantage
  • Proven track record in negotiating and drafting various complex commercial contracts
  • Based in Cape Town or willing to relocate within one month
  • A mature, team-oriented professional with strong interpersonal skills

  • Expand commercial knowledge and develop specialist expertise in jurisdiction, industry, and technology
