Job description

As a Wine Steward in our upcoming signature restaurant at Mount Nelson, you are part of a team that shapes the culinary experience of our guests.

In this role, you will contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the Food & Beverage team.

Our new signature restaurant offers an immersive marine dining experience, transporting guests into the mysterious beauty and biodiversity of the surrounding Two Oceans. Open 5 days a week, with set off days being Sunday and Monday, launching in Quarter.

Responsibilities
  • Assist guests during the dinner service with wine recommendations and selection for perfect pairing with their dinner, decanting of the wine and wine service.
  • Create and maintain an extensive wine list, ensuring it is up to date with the newest wines and trends.
  • Conduct wine tastings for staff training and as a hotel offering for guests.
  • Ensure that the wine cellar is fully stocked.
Requirements
  • Friendly and approachable attitude; ability to communicate clearly, listen attentively, and work well within a team.
  • 1 – 2 Years' experience as Sommelier in a 5-star establishment.
  • Excellent knowledge of fine local and international wines and premium beverages.
  • Ability to engage with guests, understand their preferences, make recommendations, and provide a positive experience.
