A staffing consultancy in Durban is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee daily operations in a busy restaurant and bar. Overview

Main job function: Our client, based in Umhlanga, Durban, is looking for a Restaurant Manager to join their buzzing restaurant and bar. A restaurant general manager is the senior leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of a restaurant’s daily operations to ensure it runs smoothly, efficiently, and profitably. This includes managing staff, controlling costs, ensuring high standards of food quality and cleanliness, and guaranteeing customer satisfaction. They are also responsible for strategic planning, marketing, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities
  • Staff management: Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating all restaurant staff, from the kitchen to the front-of-house.
  • Financial management: Creating and managing budgets, controlling costs, monitoring inventory, and analyzing financial performance to maximize profitability.
  • Operational oversight: Supervising daily operations, including food preparation, service, and maintenance, and ensuring all food safety and health standards are met.
  • Customer satisfaction: Ensuring a positive guest experience by addressing complaints, building relationships with customers, and implementing strategies to improve service.
  • Strategic planning: Developing and implementing strategies to improve performance, meet business objectives, and stay competitive by identifying growth opportunities and staying updated on industry trends.
  • Compliance and maintenance: Ensuring the restaurant adheres to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, as well as company policies. This also includes overseeing the maintenance of equipment and the facility itself.
