Job Summary: The Restaurant Manager will oversee the daily operations of a restaurant, ensuring high standards of service, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a thorough understanding of Asian cuisine and hospitality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Manage day‑to‑day restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures, food preparation, presentation, and service quality. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house staff. Prepare staff schedules, support performance appraisals, motivate staff, and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Customer Experience: Monitor customer satisfaction, address complaints promptly, and maintain a welcoming, efficient, and professional dining environment. Build relationships with regular guests and promote customer loyalty.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor budgets, control costs, and optimize profitability. Track sales performance, prepare regular financial and operational reports, and manage inventory, ordering, and supplier relations.
- Marketing & Promotion: Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the restaurant through campaigns, social media, and community events. Implement strategies to increase footfall and boost repeat business.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in restaurant or hospitality management.
- Strong knowledge of Asian cuisine, dining culture, and service standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven ability to work under pressure, manage long hours, and work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and reporting.
- Knowledge of restaurant technology systems (POS, reservations, inventory management).
- High attention to detail and commitment to service excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in hospitality or restaurant management.
- Experience managing a luxury or fine‑dining establishment.
- Familiarity with wine and cocktail programs.
- South African citizenship (required).
