Description
  • Conduct field research and trials related to indigenous fruits and herbs including planting, cultivating, harvesting and post-harvest activities.
  • Collect, prepare and process plant materials for laboratory analysis and agro‑processing activities.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; perform basic laboratory tests and record experimental data accurately.
  • Assist with agro‑processing operations such as fruit pulping, drying, juicing and preservation as well as essential oil distillation from herbs.
  • Compile verbal and written reports detailing methodologies, activities and research findings for supervisors and project leads.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health safety and environmental protocols during all project phases.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and interns as required.
  • Participate in technology transfer initiatives, demonstrations and training for stakeholders and community outreach activities.
Requirements
  • National Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Food Science or any related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of practical experience in horticultural research, crop production or agro‑processing.
  • Hands‑on familiarity with laboratory and agro‑processing equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct fieldwork in variable conditions.
  • Knowledge of indigenous crops and traditional processing techniques is an advantage.
