About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a creative and driven Research Scientist with a specialization in Materials Science to join their innovative team in Mossel Bay . This role focuses on the discovery, development, and characterization of novel materials for advanced applications. You will conduct rigorous experimental work, analyze material properties using sophisticated techniques, and contribute to the design of next-generation materials that meet specific performance criteria. Key Responsibilities
- Synthesize and characterize novel materials, including polymers, composites, or nanomaterials.
- Utilize advanced characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, DSC, and TGA to analyze material structure and properties.
- Design and conduct experiments to evaluate material performance under various conditions (e.g., thermal, mechanical, electrical).
- Collaborate with engineers and product developers to translate material discoveries into practical applications.
- Maintain detailed experimental records and prepare comprehensive reports on research findings.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in materials science and identify new research opportunities.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of post-doctoral or relevant industry research experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in synthesis and characterization of advanced materials.
- Proficiency with a range of material characterization instruments and techniques.
- Strong theoretical understanding of materials properties and behavior.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
