Lyceum College is seeking experienced and academically qualified individuals to serve as sessional Research Examiners under our Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management qualification. These roles are critical in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality academic experience and maintaining the integrity of post graduate assessments processes.
The Research Examiners will be responsible for marking, moderating and providing academic feedback on postgraduate research proposal and final research projects, ensuring alignment with programme outcomes, institutional goals and regulatory standards. In addition, examiners will contribute to continuous improvement by integrating feedback and maintaining academic excellence and integrity in assessments practices.
In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Research Examiner ensures that all assessments and evaluation processes comply with the standards of Council on Higher Education (CHE), the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), and other applicable institutional and professional frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
- Mark and moderate research proposals and final research projects in line with institutional and NQF standards.
- Provide fair, consistent and contractive academic guidance to enhance learning outcomes
- Ensure that assessments and marking practices comply with institutional, CHE, and DHET quality assurance frameworks
- Collaborate with the programme coordinator and faculty teams to drive academic excellence and continuous improvement.
- Uphold academic integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in all assessments- related activities.
Requirements
Required Competencies
- Strong subject matter expertise in research methodology, business Management, and postgraduate assessment
- Excellent academic writing, evaluation, and feedback skills.
- Competence in marking and moderation at postgraduate level
- Sound understanding of higher education regulatory frameworks and postgraduate research standards
- Proficiency in using digital learning platforms and online assessment tool
- Strong analytical and critical evaluation skills with attention to academic rigour
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
- Commitment to academic integrity, professionalism and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- A relevant master’s degree in business management or relevant field (essential)
- At least 2 years’ experience in postgraduate research assessment or examination in higher education
- Demonstrable experience in evaluating or moderating research projects or proposals.
- Familiarity with the Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework (HEQSF) and Council on Higher Education (CHE) standards.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and respond constructively to quality assurance feedback.
- Computer literacy and access to your own laptop / desktop and internet
Added Advantage
- Doctorate in the relevant field or working towards one
- Experience in distance education institutions
- Previous work with private higher education institutions
