Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Research Chemist to join their pharmaceutical development division in Rustenburg. The role focuses on synthesis, characterization, and formulation of new drug candidates, contributing to our pipeline in state-of-the-art facilities.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD or Master’s in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with at least four years in synthetic organic chemistry, strong multi-step synthesis and analytical skills, and proficiency with NMR, MS, and HPLC.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in synthetic organic chemistry, preferably in pharmaceutical industry.
• Proficiency with modern analytical instrumentation and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Synthesize novel organic compounds for drug discovery and development programs.
• Perform comprehensive characterization of synthesized compounds using analytical techniques such as NMR, MS, and HPLC.
• Develop and optimize synthetic routes and purification methods for key intermediates and APIs.
• Collaborate with pharmacologists and formulation scientists to evaluate compound efficacy and stability.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and contribute to technical reports and patent applications.
