Placements24 is seeking a highly qualified Remote Soil Scientist to contribute to agricultural research initiatives. This fully remote role allows you to work from your home location near Mahikeng, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of agronomists, researchers, and data analysts.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD or Master's in Soil Science or related field, with 7+ years of experience in soil analysis, GIS-based mapping, and soil health assessment.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in soil analysis and agricultural research.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques for soil analysis and interpretation.
• Experience with GIS software and remote sensing data for soil mapping.
• Strong understanding of soil chemistry, physics, and biology, and crop nutrient requirements.

Responsibilities

• Analyze soil samples and field data to assess properties and health.
• Develop tailored fertilization and soil amendment strategies.
• Research erosion, leaching, and degradation with mitigation proposals.
• Use spectroscopy and GIS for soil characterization and mapping.
• Interpret large datasets on soil, climate, and crop performance.
• Contribute to sustainable soil management and conservation plans.
• Collaborate remotely with interdisciplinary teams.
