Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Research Scientist to lead AI/ML driven neuroscience research from a global, remote-first team. The role focuses on developing cutting-edge algorithms, analyzing neural data, and translating findings into impactful scientific publications.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field with a strong AI/ML focus.
• Minimum 5 years post-doctoral experience or equivalent in computational neuroscience, AI research, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and application of advanced AI/ML models for the analysis of neuroimaging, electrophysiological, and behavioral neuroscience data.
• Design and implement computational experiments to investigate neural mechanisms and identify biomarkers for neurological diseases.
• Collaborate remotely with a multidisciplinary team of neuroscientists, AI researchers, and clinicians to define research questions and project goals.
• Develop robust data pipelines for preprocessing, analyzing, and visualizing large-scale neuroscience datasets.
• Stay current with the latest research trends in AI, ML, and neuroscience, and identify opportunities for innovation.
• Publish research findings in top-tier scientific journals and present at international conferences.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to building a strong remote research community.

Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in developing and applying machine learning algorithms (deep learning, reinforcement learning, etc.) to complex biological data.
• Strong understanding of neuroscience principles, neural circuits, and common neurological disorders.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (with libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas) and experience with relevant AI/ML frameworks.
• Experience with neuroimaging (fMRI, EEG, MEG) or electrophysiology data analysis is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
• Strong publication record in leading AI and neuroscience journals.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data technologies.
