Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Metallurgist for a fully remote role supporting operations across South Africa, including Durban. You will optimize mineral processing circuits, perform pilot plant trials, and generate detailed reports from a distance.

The ideal candidate has a Master's or PhD in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering, 10+ years of mineral processing experience, and proficiency with METSIM and JKSimMet. Excellent remote communication and independent work skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mineral processing and metallurgy.
• Proven expertise with specific commodities (gold, platinum, base metals).

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot mineral processing circuits (flotation, leaching, thickening).
• Conduct metallurgical test work and pilot plant trials to evaluate new technologies.
• Analyze process data to improve recovery, grade, and costs.
• Provide technical support and guidance to plant operations remotely.
• Prepare detailed metallurgical reports including design criteria and feasibility studies.
• Mentor junior metallurgists and share knowledge across the organization.
