Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a fully remote role focused on heavy mining equipment. The engineer will conceptualize, develop and refine mechanical systems for demanding environments, leveraging CATIA/SolidWorks and FEA/CFD to validate designs.

The successful candidate will mentor junior engineers, lead design reviews, and collaborate with a global team while delivering robust, safe, and high-performance equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design for heavy machinery/mining equipment.
• Expert proficiency in CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, Inventor) and simulation tools (FEA, CFD).
• Strong knowledge of materials science, fatigue, tribology, and reliability thinking.
• Proven track record of designing and launching complex mechanical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and remote-working collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex mechanical systems for large-scale mining equipment in harsh conditions.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
• Perform FEA and CFD analyses to validate designs.
• Collaborate with a global remote team of engineers and specialists.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation including specs, BOMs, and testing procedures.
• Lead design reviews and ensure adherence to project requirements.
