Placements24 is seeking a Senior Data Scientist specializing in AI/ML to join a fully remote team from Pretoria or anywhere in South Africa. You will develop and deploy advanced analytical models that drive strategic decisions and product innovation.

You will work with large datasets, perform feature engineering, design experiments, and communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders while staying current with AI advances.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist focusing on AI/ML.
• Proficiency in Python or R and data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn).
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and big data technologies.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, train, and deploy ML models to solve complex business problems.
• Perform data analysis, feature engineering, and statistical modeling on large datasets.
• Design experiments to test hypotheses and validate model performance.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
