About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Computational Biologist to join their dynamic, fully remote research team. This role is critical for advancing our understanding of complex biological systems through the application of advanced bioinformatics and data science techniques. You will be responsible for analyzing large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets to identify novel insights and drive therapeutic discovery. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced computational biologist to work remotely from anywhere, contributing to groundbreaking research within a collaborative, agile, and scientifically driven organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement sophisticated computational pipelines for the analysis of multi-omics biological data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.).
- Develop and apply statistical and machine learning models to uncover biological patterns, identify disease biomarkers, and predict therapeutic responses.
- Collaborate closely with experimental biologists, clinicians, and other computational scientists to interpret results and formulate new research hypotheses.
- Visualize complex biological data in an intuitive and informative manner for diverse audiences.
- Contribute to the development of internal tools and databases to enhance data management and analysis capabilities.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in computational biology, bioinformatics, and data science methodologies.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in computational biology or bioinformatics research, preferably in a drug discovery or biomedical research setting.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant scientific libraries.
- Strong experience with large-scale data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning algorithms.
- Familiarity with various biological databases and public repositories (e.g., NCBI, Ensembl, TCGA).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and effectively in a remote setting.
