Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance Specialist to join a fully remote team operating from South Africa, with operations based in George. You will ensure products and processes meet high quality, safety, and regulatory standards and contribute to robust QMS across national and international guidelines.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years in QA/QC, with strong cGMP knowledge and experience in audits, CAPA, and change

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology or related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in QA or QC within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, ICH guidelines and SA regulations.
  • Experience with document control, audit management, CAPA systems and change control.
  • Proficiency with QA software and standard office tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external regulatory inspections.
  • Review and approve batch records, validation protocols and other quality documentation.
  • Investigate deviations, OOS results and customer complaints; implement CAPAs.
  • Manage change control processes for Modifications to processes, equipment or documentation.
  • Train personnel on quality systems and cGMP principles.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance Specialist to join their fully remote team, contributing from anywhere in South Africa , with operations managed from George . In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all pharmaceutical products and processes adhere to the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will play a key part in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality management systems that meet national and international guidelines. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who excels in a remote setting and is passionate about upholding excellence in the pharmaceutical industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external regulatory inspections, ensuring readiness and compliance.
  • Review and approve batch records, validation protocols, and other critical quality documentation.
  • Investigate deviations, out-of-specification (OOS) results, and customer complaints, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Manage change control processes to ensure all modifications to processes, equipment, or documentation are properly evaluated and controlled.
  • Train personnel on quality system requirements and cGMP principles.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices), ICH guidelines, and relevant South African regulations.
  • Experience with document control, audit management, CAPA systems, and change control.
  • Proficiency in using quality management software and standard office productivity tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a strong ability to work independently.
