Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Pharmaceutical Medical Science Liaison to cover the Western Cape region. You will serve as a scientific expert, delivering clinical information and engaging with KOLs through virtual interactions and occasional in-person meetings.

You will collaborate with medical affairs, R&D, and commercial teams, support clinical trials, and stay current with scientific developments. A PharmD/PhD/MD and 3–5 years in pharma MSL roles are required.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a relevant field (PharmD/PhD/MD).
• 3–5 years of experience as an MSL or in a medical affairs role within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong ability to build relationships with KOLs and healthcare professionals; excellent presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain scientific relationships with KOLs, researchers, and healthcare professionals in the Western Cape region.
• Deliver accurate and comprehensive scientific and clinical information on assigned products.
• Gather insights from KOLs regarding clinical practice, unmet medical needs, and research interests.
• Support clinical trial activities, including site identification and investigator engagement.
• Present scientific data at medical conferences and symposia.
• Respond to unsolicited medical information requests in a compliant, scientifically sound manner.
• Collaborate with internal medical affairs, R&D, and commercial teams to ensure alignment.

About the Role

Requirements

• Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an MSL or in a similar medical affairs role within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Deep scientific and clinical knowledge in relevant therapeutic areas (e.g., Oncology, Cardiology, Neurology).
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with KOLs and healthcare professionals.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong understanding of regulatory guidelines and ethical standards governing medical affairs.
• Ability to work independently, manage travel logistics, and maintain a high level of productivity in a remote capacity.
• Proficiency in using CRM software and other digital communication tools.
• Must be based in or have extensive knowledge of the Western Cape.
• Ability to travel within the region and occasionally nationally as required.
