Job summary

Apex Academic Centre is seeking Spanish tutors to teach online across South Africa to learners from school age to adults starting from scratch. You set your own hours while we bring you the learners.

Lessons are conducted one-to-one on Apex's MyAPEX platform, with flexible evening slots for adults, and you work as an independent contractor. You should have near-native or native Spanish fluency, teaching experience, and a relevant qualification.

Qualifications

• Near-native or native fluency in Spanish, spoken and written.
• Teaching experience.
• A relevant qualification. A teaching qualification, a degree in Spanish, or a recognised language teaching certificate.
• SACE registration is an advantage but not required.
• A police clearance certificate if you tutor in person.
• Laptop or desktop, a webcam, a stable internet connection and a quiet room to teach from.

Responsibilities

• Teach one-to-one online across listening, speaking, reading and writing, at the learner's level.
• Set a realistic goal in the first lesson to keep learners engaged.
• Teach verb structure in a motivating way to build confidence.
• Provide real speaking time in every lesson to maximise practice.
• Work to the learner's syllabus for formal school qualifications.
• Keep all communication and homework on the MyAPEX platform.
