Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Remote Logistics Network Planner to design, optimize, and manage a nationwide transportation network from a fully remote setting in South Africa. You will analyze data, develop routing strategies, and manage carrier relationships to ensure cost-effective and timely goods movement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, SCM, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics planning, network design, or transportation management.
• Proven ability to analyze complex data sets and develop data-driven solutions.
• Proficiency in using logistics planning software, optimization tools, and TMS platforms.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, essential for remote collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting.
• Experience in managing carrier relationships is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with South African transportation infrastructure and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze transportation data to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for network optimization.
• Develop and implement optimal routing and scheduling strategies for long-haul and regional transportation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external carriers to ensure smooth execution of logistics plans.
• Manage and negotiate contracts with transportation providers to secure competitive rates and service levels.
• Utilize logistics software and modeling tools to forecast demand and plan capacity requirements.
• Monitor KPIs related to network efficiency, cost, and delivery performance.
• Identify and implement innovative solutions to reduce transportation costs and improve delivery times.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
• Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the transportation network.
• Prepare regular reports and presentations on network performance and strategic recommendations.
