Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Reservoir Engineer for a globally recognized Oil & Gas client. The role is fully remote across South Africa, supporting projects with potential near Sandton, Gauteng, ZA, while enabling remote work flexibility nationwide.

You will lead reservoir strategies, run simulations, and mentor a remote team to maximize asset value. You will model performance, perform economic evaluations, and collaborate with geoscientists and drilling engineers to optimize field development.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Petroleum Engineering or a related quantitative field.
• 10+ years of progressive reservoir engineering experience, especially in exploration and development within Oil & Gas.
• Extensive experience with Eclipse, CMG Suite and Tempest for reservoir simulation.
• Proven expertise in reservoir modeling, decline curve analysis, material balance and uncertainty quantification.
• Strong understanding of fluid properties, phase behavior and EOR techniques.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills for leading remote teams.
• Ability to manage complex projects and deliver high-quality results.
• Experience in managing technical teams and projects.
• Familiarity with economic evaluation techniques for oil and gas assets.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings or site visits.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of reservoir management plans to maximize economic recovery.
• Conduct advanced reservoir simulations to model fluid flow, predict performance, and evaluate development scenarios.
• Perform detailed reservoir characterization using geological, petrophysical, and production data.
• Mentor and guide a team of reservoir engineers, providing technical oversight.
• Collaborate with geoscientists, production, and drilling engineers to optimize field development and well performance.
• Evaluate new exploration and development opportunities with robust technical input.
• Prepare and present technical reports and economic evaluations to senior management and partners.
• Apply best practices in reservoir engineering, uncertainty analysis and economic assessment.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in reservoir engineering.
• Contribute to the company's technical standards and knowledge base.
