Job summary

Our client, Durban-based fabric sourcing and procurement role, seeks a Procurement Specialist to manage end-to-end fabric sourcing for international suppliers. This remote position supports operations in Durban, demanding strong negotiation skills and import/commercial know-how.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in clothing/textile procurement, a solid grasp of fabric types, pricing, and specifications, plus the ability to travel internationally when required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in clothing/textile sourcing or procurement.
• Proven track record sourcing fabrics from international suppliers.
• Experience with imports, shipping and international purchasing.
• Strong understanding of fabric types, pricing and specifications.
• Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently; deadlines oriented.

Responsibilities

• Source and secure suitable fabrics internationally.
• Identify new suppliers and sourcing opportunities.
• Negotiate pricing with overseas suppliers.
• Manage fabric samples, specifications, quality, and availability.
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs regarding imports and shipments.
• Monitor orders, lead times and deliveries.
• Stay up to date with fabric, fashion and industry trends.
• Identify alternative fabrics and cost-saving opportunities.
• Travel internationally when required to visit suppliers and mills.
