Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Exploration Geophysicist for a leading global mining exploration company. This fully remote role focuses on interpreting geophysical data to identify mineral targets and to design surveys across magnetic, gravity, EM, and seismic datasets.

You will develop 3D geophysical models, integrate geological information, and generate exploration targets while collaborating with geologists and consultants in a distributed team.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geophysics or related Earth science field.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in mineral exploration geophysics.
• Proficiency in processing and interpreting magnetic, gravity, and electromagnetic data; seismic data is a plus.
• Experience with Geosoft, Oasis Montaj, Maxwell, Remap, HGG or equivalent software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data visualization skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate with distributed teams.

About the Role

Our client, a leading global mining exploration company, is seeking an innovative and experienced Remote Exploration Geophysicist to join their distributed team. This fully remote position offers the unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking exploration projects from anywhere, focusing on the interpretation and analysis of geophysical data to identify promising mineral deposits. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in designing geophysical surveys, processing and interpreting various geophysical datasets (magnetic, gravity, electromagnetic, seismic), and integrating this information with other geological data to generate exploration targets. This role demands exceptional analytical skills, a deep understanding of geophysical principles, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote setting. Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and manage geophysical exploration surveys (e.g., ground, airborne, marine).

Requirements

• A Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Exploration Geophysics, or a related Earth Science field.
• A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in mineral exploration geophysics, with a strong emphasis on data interpretation.
• Demonstrated proficiency in processing and interpreting magnetic, gravity, and electromagnetic data is essential. Experience with seismic data is a plus.
• Expertise in industry-standard geophysical software packages (e.g., Geosoft, Oasis Montaj, Maxwell, Remap, HGG).
• Strong understanding of the physical properties of rocks and their relationship to geophysical signatures.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data visualization skills.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and deliver results in a remote work setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration.
• Experience with scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Matlab) for data processing is advantageous.
