Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Automotive Diagnostic Engineer to join a fully remote engineering team in South Africa. You will develop and refine diagnostic software for next-generation vehicles, analyze data logs, and design test plans to ensure software effectiveness from a distributed hub in Richards Bay.

In this role you will collaborate with hardware and software engineers, troubleshoot defects, and document findings for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in automotive diagnostics and embedded systems.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Strong knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet vehicle networks.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and remote work ability.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and validate advanced diagnostic software and tools for automotive systems.
• Analyze vehicle data logs and performance metrics to identify root causes of issues.
• Design and execute test plans to verify diagnostic software functionality.
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate diagnostic solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance bottlenecks in a remote setting.
• Document diagnostic procedures, findings, and recommended solutions clearly.
